At age seven, living in Taiwan, I sometimes got together with my friend Hsiao Hua. We made fishing poles from bamboo, with hooks bent from pins. Using little balls of rice we caught little minnows around an inch and a half long. We never fried any up, but this is my earliest memory of bamboo. | ||
